Have I ever talked about how much I love old Samurai films ?

You've all seen the Kurosawa's probably, but just as a genre ... I prefer black and white samurai films.

Which leads me to mention my favorite movie ... probably of all time ?
SWORD OF DOOM

This movie INVENTED the cold hearted bastard. It follows around a samurai, Ryunosuke, and not only did he live by his sword, he was obsessed with it.

There was so many great plot points in this movie to be noted, but I really would love at least one person to pick this up and watch it. It's definitely one of my favorites and gets better with multiple views.

-I can not count how many times I hear teenagers at my job using the word "like" to describe something, or in their normal sentences as a stutter.

"I was with Billy, and like, he like, did like, this sorta like thing. It was like a dance !"

-Also a great conversation that I overheard.

Guy "I dunno, I think that's like so tact-less"
Girl "OMG WHAT'S TACT ?!"
Guy" I DUNNO, IT'S LIKE ... TACT !"

-I'm getting a job at a comic book shop. I'm applying this weekend. Late night soup heals all mental wounds. Drawing some THB fan art. Hopefully I'll get my scanner up and running. I swear I'm cursed with scanners. I got a new one again, this is my third one.

-Cute girls that I like need to like me back. Too many weird girls lately, cute, but they all have issues up front.
Monkey: Journey to the West

Let me just say that I have been slacking off on updating my life, interests, and art on the internet and spending more time loitering around here. Hopefully this journal entry will clear things up.

In my attempts I'll be talking about art. Mainly this one little play I saw in South Carolina and it's only U.S. appearance since it's debuted. Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn's baby called MONKEY: JOURNEY TO THE WEST

Music was composed by Damon Albarn, while set pieces and costumes were handled by Jamie Hewlett. Along with animation from Zombie Flesh Eaters. There's only one word to describe this play and it was "mesmerizing." The entire time while watching the acrobats, reading the subtitles ( yes the songs were sung in Mandarin ), and being in awe by the story, there's no other words I can to describe what I saw that day.

Monkey fighting off a dragon.

Pigsy, Tripitaka, and Sandy.

Yeah that shit happened in front of a giant Budda statue !

Here's what the animation looked like and the music. This is a promotion for the 2008 Beijing Olympics by the characters of Monkey: Journey to the West.

<lj-embed id="11" />

Also an album will be coming out in August, which I will definitely be getting. If anyone wants, I'll be glad to share this with you. You can sample some of the tracks here:

http://www.monkeyjourneytothewest.com/the-album/

So I watched this TV show from BBC channel 3 called Phoo Action, based off the comic strip by the notoriously awesome Jamie Hewlett. ( Tank Girl, Gorillaz ... com'on people )

It was really radddd. For a TV show based off a comic strip, I was pleased with how it turned out.

Hot chick, cool car, and Bruce Lee wanna-a-be hero ... that's okay with me !

Yes that guy has a basketball for a head, and yes he's the main villain.

Terry doing what he does best !

Whitey practicing her moves.

Wrestler goons !

Drivin' in the carrrr.

So yeah, please try to get this and watch it somehow. He's awesome, and thank god he's out of there. We had a good talk about how he loves carpentry, and how I remembered asking him as a kid to draw me all my favorite video game characters, and Ninja Turtles... and he would because he is the coolest guy. I just need 1 more Grandfather out of the hospital and I'll feel even better about life.

So after the cut is some random sketches I did today, and some designs for t-shirts I did long ago. My friend and I had the idea to make t-shirts that were made with organic cotton and have "nature" designs such as animals, planets, life .. whatever. So under the cut ... CHECK IT OUT !!!

Something I sketched today thinking of a flyer for my friend Jeff Ramos. He is DJing at Lounge Zen. Very asian place. Japanese owner, dude was super cool. They have hanging art all along the walls from featured local artists. He gave me a business card and totally going to take him up on the offer soon to present my shit to him. But yeah ... Budda talking about music, love, life ... probably not going to use it, but everyone should draw a Budda.
Lounge Zen is chill.

I was listening to Hip Hop and all I could think about was this Snake character from Mother 3. So I included him.

If you can see, the main character is using it to grab onto those candles.

Drawing I did thinking of my T-shirt design.

Initial t-shirt design.

Another t-shirt design. I would like to go back and actually draw these.

So yeah things are looking good... except women. Well, not that that's going bad, but not that it's going anywhere. I totally pussed out after a job interview at Urban Outfitters ( where I might be working soon ? ). Was just about to ask this girl for a cup of coffee during our conversation, then she realized she parked by a meter, said goodbye to me and ran out. Then she was behind me the entire ride home waving at me. SO WEIRD, BUT KINDA COOL ?! I hope we both get the job so I can pull a mulligan on that one.
Nothing says "I hate my job" like calling out of work. Which I ended up doing today. In the past 5 or so years of working, I have never called out. I can't even recall me being that sick where I had to call out.

So as a shining beckon of hope and creativity I was called by my table today. I decided to open up my shades and let whatever little sunlight through, even though today was ultra cloudy. I have a nice inspiring view ... well at least I think I do. A lot of childhood memories. Today was a great day for art.

IT HAUNTS MEEEEE.

I wish I knew why they have to flock to my backyard.

BIRDZ.

I've always tried to name my tree, yet nothing ever fits. I'm really tired of these 4 year waits inbetween records. Still if it takes that long to produce an even better album, I'll gladly wait.

EDIT:

Also you can purchase Kong Studios ( Gorillaz headquarters ... also this is the same website Murdoc used to find Kong Studios as well ) at:

Gigantic-Disused-Haunted-Studios-in-the-Middle-of-Nowhere.com/

Hah !

... usually my hands get filled with ink and my child-like mentality takes over and I have this urge to touch things that are white and clean with my dirty inky hands.

New Years Eve is today ... this year was pretty crazy.

Bad of 2007:
My Grandmother in Arizona passed away.
I dropped out of school.
My long time girlfriend broke-up with me.
I currently do not have a job.
Not completing most of my artwork.

Good of 2007:
I found myself.
I lost some pounds ( hoping to lose more ! )
Started drawing and or sketching everyday since September.
Wrote a comic book story, and working on several more.
Finally decided to push forward on with my life.

That's a good summary of really what went down this entire year, but I don't feel like going into detail about everything.

2008 I am going to live every week like it's Shark Week !!!
Phew. I have been working on a lot of things these past few days, I should be working harder, but it will come naturally.

So to start off I have an internet show with my best friend and we go by the name of:

FHX !!!

http://www.myspace.com/funfhx
http://www.myspace.com/funfhx
Please go to our myspace and check out our trailer ( which tells ... 5% of what it's about hah. )

Also I've been listening to: We Are Wolves - Total Magique

http://www.myspace.com/wearewolvesnoussommesloups
http://www.myspace.com/wearewolvesnoussommesloups
Check their myspace as well, they have some rad tunneezzzz.

Last thing is that I've finished writing an outline along with 40% of a script for a comic book. The rest of it will come naturally, but I want to tune up this story without too many complications. This week has been pretty righteous, also I'm super behind on some Christmas shopping, but art matters more!

My friend Chris and I were talking about Resident Evil the other day. The conversation got so intense, we had to play a copy of ANY Resident Evil game. Sadly, mine was at my house and he didn't have his. So to commemorate our discussion I drew the both of us if we had contracted the t-virus. AND WE FUSED TOGETHER TO MAKE ONE HIPSTER SUPER TYRANT !

I been using micron pens, and I decided to go back to a brush. I fucked up on a couple of parts. I can't use a pen knowing I touched a brush ... it's so much more fluid.

My friend chris on the left always wears a V-Neck striped shirt, and I ( right, with no jaw and vomiting ) always wear a button down with a messy collar. MAYBE ? DEFINITELY ? A ZOMMMBIIEEEEEEEEE !

I feel unproductive if I don't post anything online, but I have been drawing everyday. I have been working on something for a internet friend of mine ( Jason a.k.a. JFISH that's you! ), but I haven't completed it yet.

Just a mandrill standing there, with it's dick out.

Next two pictures is something that I want to do for myself. I really like old fables, and one of my favorites is the story of Momotaro. I thought about illustrating others ( and I still might ), but I felt Momotaro has a lot of flexibility for me to have fun with it. This was just an idea that hit me not to long ago, so I'm pretty excited. Here are two sketches, but there will be more and hopefully I can take off with this.

The Shiba has a helmet on. The monkey has a neckerchief, and the green pheasant has a giant feather and red X mark on his chest.

Momotaro, having fun. Slashin' up some demons.

My table is great, hip hop is great, and I need a day job.
